Hitachi Elite LaChrom HPLC system

This High Performance Liquid Chromatography system separates compounds dissolved in a liquid sample and allows qualitative and quantitative analysis of what components and how much of each component is contained in the sample. The Hitachi LaChrom Elite is a truly robust system that delivers long-term reliable and accurate results with little required maintenance — and a host of efficiency-driving features such as a built-in degasser, solvent pre-heating and cooling, and electronic pulse isolation and compensation (EPIC).

Karl Fischer Titrator

This Hanna Instruments device (HI933-01) is critical for precise water measurement in finished good products. It’s an especially important tool in single dose pod formulations to ensure the correct amount of water is present in the sample; too much or too little can result in the premature degradation of the PVOH film.

pH Meter

Accurate pH measurement is vital towards ensuring product compliance and stability over time. We use the Hanna Edge pH Meter to measure and record the pH of the samples produced.

Analytical Oven & Analytical Freezer

When taking a formulation to market, it’s vital to ensure that the product will remain stable over its expected shelf life. In order to validate the stability of the formulation, FCS Consulting provides comprehensive stability testing guidelines, which includes a 90-day thermal test in an analytical oven, and multiple freeze thaw cycles in an analytical freezer. Room temperature retains are always kept for a period no shorter than three years.

Analytical Balancer

Precise measurements are often the key towards producing accurate and reliable results. We use several balances, calibrated annually, to ensure raw materials are weighed accurately. We use an analytical balance for dye measurements, as even the slightest deviation can affect the reproducibility of the formulation.

Potentiometric Titrators

These are used to validate the concentration of active ingredients in EPA registered disinfectants. Our titrators are set up to accurately measure quantities of sodium hypochlorite and quaternary ammonium compounds contained within these products.

Turg-O-Tometer

FCS Consulting uses a Turg-O-Tometer to internally validate the performance of our formulated products. The machine keeps the drums at a constant temperature, while the agitators are kept at a constant RPM. Because of the uniform temperature and motion, it’s possible to directly evaluate multiple formulations against target products. This is most useful for evaluating the performance of laundry detergents, where pre-stained swatches can be applied to the drums alongside the detergent and subsequent comparisons of stain removal can be made once the cycles are finished.

Electronic Impellers

FCS Consulting has several of these devices varying sizes with precise RPM control to compound samples. We have the ability to make up to 55 gallons of sample at a single time.
